Welcome to the web site for the Brantford to Cambridge Transportation Corridor Environmental Assessment.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) initiated an Individual Environmental Assessment (EA) study under the Environmental Assessment Act to address the long-term problems and opportunities (to 2031) relative to the inter-regional movement of people and goods in the Brantford to Cambridge area. The Brantford to Cambridge Transportation Corridor Individual EA replaces the former Highway 24 Transportation Corridor Class EA Study.
On June 10, 2008, MTO issued a news release announcing this new study. A Notice of Commencement of EA Terms of Reference was placed in area newspapers in June 2008, and sent to those on the study mailing list.
On September 2, 2008, MTO released the draft EA Terms of Reference for review and comment by stakeholders and affected First Nations. A Notice of Release of Draft EA Terms of Reference and Public Information Centre (PIC) was placed in area newspapers in September 2008, and sent to those on the study mailing list.
From September 29 to October 7, 2008, PICs were held in Brantford, Cambridge, St. George and Ayr to present the draft EA Terms of Reference and respond to questions and comments.
In the Notice of Release of Draft EA Terms of Reference, and at the PICs, comments were requested by November 14, 2008. The project team reviewed the input received and made appropriate changes to the draft EA Terms of Reference. Individual responses were provided to all who provided written comment, and a full set of responses is provided in the Record of Consultation identified below.
On March 27, 2009, the Proposed EA Terms of Reference (PDF/97kb) was submitted to the Minister of the Environment. This submission included Supporting Documents for the EA Terms of Reference (PDF/10.4mb), and a Record of Consultation for the EA Terms of Reference (PDF/8.7mb). A Notice of EA Terms of Reference Submission was placed in area newspapers between March 25 to March 27, 2009, and sent to those on the study mailing list.
Written comments about the proposed EA Terms of Reference were requested by Monday, April 27th, 2009. All comments were submitted to:
